The Confession of St. Peter (January 18)

Praise for Your great apostle

So eager and so bold,

Thrice falling, yet repentant,

Thrice charged to feed Your fold.

Lord, make Your pastors faithful

To guard Your flock from harm,

And hold them when they waver

With Your almighty arm. (LSB 517, stanza 10)

Almighty Father, in Your gracious favor You revealed to Your servant Peter the glorious truth that our Lord Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. Continue to give Your Church courage and boldness to confess this saving truth so that we may bring to the lost and dying of this world the comforting message of Your forgiving grace. Amen.
