It's no doubt that the LCMS is a divided church body, in spite of what some in our leadership would have us believe. It's a battle not unlike what our forefathers in the mid-1800's faced ... remaining faithful to Scripture and the Lutheran Confessions or accomodating to the culture around us and adopting the revivalistic methods of other churches rather than relying on the means of grace to grow the Church.
