HYMN: I Leave All Things to
God’s Direction
1 I leave all things to God’s direction;
He loves me both in joy and woe.
His will is good, sure His affection;
His tender love is true, I know.
My fortress and my rock is He:
What pleases God, that pleases me.
He loves me both in joy and woe.
His will is good, sure His affection;
His tender love is true, I know.
My fortress and my rock is He:
What pleases God, that pleases me.
2 God knows what must be done to save me;
His love for me will never cease.
Upon His hands He did engrave me
With purest gold of loving grace.
His will supreme must ever be:
What pleases God, that pleases me.
His love for me will never cease.
Upon His hands He did engrave me
With purest gold of loving grace.
His will supreme must ever be:
What pleases God, that pleases me.
3 My God desires the soul’s salvation;
My soul He, too, desires to save.
Therefore with Christian resignation
All earthly troubles I will brave.
His will be done eternally:
What pleases God, that pleases me.
My soul He, too, desires to save.
Therefore with Christian resignation
All earthly troubles I will brave.
His will be done eternally:
What pleases God, that pleases me.
4 My God has all things in His keeping;
He is the ever faithful friend.
He gives me laughter after weeping,
And all His ways in blessings end.
His love endures eternally:
What pleases God, that pleases me.
He is the ever faithful friend.
He gives me laughter after weeping,
And all His ways in blessings end.
His love endures eternally:
What pleases God, that pleases me.

C O
come, let us sing to the Lord,
let us make a joyful noise to the rock of
our salvation.
Let us come into His presence with thanksgiving,
let us make a joyful noise to Him with
songs of praise.
For the Lord is a great God

The deep places of the earth are in His

the strength of the hills is His also.
The sea is His, for He made it,

O come, let us worship and bow down,

Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel,
you who lead Joseph | like a flock!*
You who are enthroned upon the cherubim, | shine forth.
Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Ma- | nasseh,*
stir up your might
and come to | save us!
you who lead Joseph | like a flock!*

Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Ma- | nasseh,*

Restore us, | O God;*

let your face shine, that we | may be saved!
O Lord

how long will you be angry with your | people’s prayers?
You have fed them with the | bread of tears*

Restore us, O | God of hosts;*

The boar from the forest rav- | ages it,*
and all that move in the field | feed on it.
Turn again, O | God of hosts!*
Look down from | heaven, and see;
have regard for this vine, the stock that your right hand | planted,*
and for the son whom you made strong | for yourself.
They have burned it with fire; they have | cut it down;*
may they perish at the rebuke | of your face!
But let your hand be on the man of your | right hand,*
the son of man whom you have made strong | for yourself!
Then we shall not turn | back from you;*
give us life, and we will call up- | on your name!
Restore us, O Lord | God of hosts!*

HYMN: Your Hand, O Lord, in Days
of Old
1 Your hand, O Lord, in days of old
Was strong to heal and save;
It triumphed over ills and death,
O’er darkness and the grave.
To You they came, the blind, the mute,
The palsied and the lame,
The lepers in their misery,
The sick with fevered frame.
Was strong to heal and save;
It triumphed over ills and death,
O’er darkness and the grave.
To You they came, the blind, the mute,
The palsied and the lame,
The lepers in their misery,
The sick with fevered frame.
2 Your touch then, Lord, brought life and
health,
Gave speech and strength and sight;
And youth renewed and frenzy calmed
Revealed You, Lord of light.
And now, O Lord, be near to bless,
Almighty as before,
In crowded street, by beds of pain,
As by Gennes’ret’s shore.
Gave speech and strength and sight;
And youth renewed and frenzy calmed
Revealed You, Lord of light.
And now, O Lord, be near to bless,
Almighty as before,
In crowded street, by beds of pain,
As by Gennes’ret’s shore.
3 O be our great deliv’rer still,
The Lord of life and death;
Restore and quicken, soothe and bless,
With Your life-giving breath.
To hands that work and eyes that see
Give wisdom’s healing pow’r
That whole and sick and weak and strong
May praise You evermore.
The Lord of life and death;
Restore and quicken, soothe and bless,
With Your life-giving breath.
To hands that work and eyes that see
Give wisdom’s healing pow’r
That whole and sick and weak and strong
May praise You evermore.

READINGS
Reading
So
the Lord sent a pestilence on Israel from the
morning until the appointed time. And there died of the people from Dan to
Beersheba 70,000 men. And when the angel stretched out his hand toward
Jerusalem to destroy it, the Lord relented from
the calamity and said to the angel who was working destruction among the
people, “It is enough; now stay your hand.” And the angel of the Lord was by the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.
Then David spoke to the Lord when he saw the
angel who was striking the people, and said, “Behold, I have sinned, and I have
done wickedly. But these sheep, what have they done? Please let your hand be
against me and against my father’s house.”
And
Gad came that day to David and said to him, “Go up, raise an altar to the Lord on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.”
So David went up at Gad’s word, as the Lord
commanded. And when Araunah looked down, he saw the king and his servants
coming on toward him. And Araunah went out and paid homage to the king with his
face to the ground. And Araunah said, “Why has my lord the king come to his
servant?” David said, “To buy the threshing floor from you, in order to build
an altar to the Lord, that the plague may be
averted from the people.” Then Araunah said to David, “Let my lord the king
take and offer up what seems good to him. Here are the oxen for the burnt
offering and the threshing sledges and the yokes of the oxen for the wood. All this,
O king, Araunah gives to the king.” And Araunah said to the king, “The Lord your God accept you.” But the king said to
Araunah, “No, but I will buy it from you for a price. I will not offer burnt
offerings to the Lord my God that cost me
nothing.” So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of
silver. And David built there an altar to the Lord
and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So the Lord
responded to the plea for the land, and the plague was averted from Israel.
A O Lord, have mercy on us.
C Thanks
be to God.

But
the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man’s
trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of
that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many. And the free gift is not like the
result of that one man’s sin. For the judgment following one trespass brought
condemnation, but the free gift following many trespasses brought
justification. If, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that
one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free
gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.
Therefore,
as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness
leads to justification and life for all men. For as by the one man’s
disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the one man’s obedience the many
will be made righteous. Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where
sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death,
grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through
Jesus Christ our Lord.
A O Lord, have mercy on us.
C Thanks
be to God.

And
he arose and left the synagogue and entered Simon’s house. Now Simon’s
mother-in-law was ill with a high fever, and they appealed to him on her
behalf. And he stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her, and
immediately she rose and began to serve them.
Now
when the sun was setting, all those who had any who were sick with various
diseases brought them to him, and he laid his hands on every one of them and
healed them. And demons also came out of many, crying, “You are the Son of
God!” But he rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, because they knew
that he was the Christ.
A O Lord, have mercy on us.
C Thanks
be to God.

C We
praise You, O God; we acknowledge You to be the Lord.
All the earth now worships You, the Father everlasting.
To You all angels cry aloud, the heavens
and all the pow’rs therein.
To You cherubim and seraphim continually do
cry:
Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of Sabaoth;
heaven and earth are full of the majesty of
Your glory.
The glorious company of the apostles praise
You.
The goodly fellowship of the prophets
praise You.
The noble army of martyrs praise You.
The holy Church throughout all the world
does acknowledge You:
The Father of an infinite majesty; Your
adorable, true, and only Son;
also the Holy Ghost, the Comforter.
You are the king of glory, O Christ;
You are the everlasting Son of the Father.
When You took upon Yourself to deliver man,
You humbled Yourself to be born of a
virgin.
When You had overcome the sharpness of
death,
You opened the kingdom of heaven to all
believers.
You sit at the right hand of God
in the glory of the Father.
We believe that You will come
to be our judge.
We therefore pray You to help Your
servants,
whom You have redeemed with Your precious
blood.
Make them to be numbered with Your saints
in glory everlasting.
O Lord, save Your people and bless Your heritage.
Govern them and lift them up forever.
Day by day we magnify You.
And we worship Your name forever and ever.
Grant, O Lord, to keep us this day without sin.
O Lord, have mercy upon us, have mercy upon us.
O Lord, let Your mercy be upon us, as our trust is in You.
